Hello and welcome to my web page! Below is a rundown of my softball playing and coaching experience
In 2004 I helped set up the successful “Super Mite” Softball program in North Vancouver. We, (my Dad and I) coached this great little softball team for one year, and continued to help out the team over the past 3 years. Last year they won the Gold medal in Peewee B.
I volunteered to help coach the 2006 B.C. Summer Games Fastpitch (Softball) team all through the winter of 2005 and spring 2006. Then 2 years ago I was honoured to be asked to be an Assistant Coach for the BC Summer Games 2008 Fastpitch (Softball) team. I have also set up and coached four “Softball Spring Tune Up” clinics for North Vancouver B.C. focusing on fielding and throwing. These were very successful, and I am planning on doing more this Year.
I have been a pitching instructor for North Van for 5 years, teaching twice a week from October to April. I also run a winter clinic that goes from january to the start of season which has been very sucessful over the last 4 years.
For the past 4 years I have been working with Marty Lehn of the Okanagan Big League Experience as an instructor and also teach clinics for him on the Lower Mainland, Gibsons and Vancouver Island. I instruct Players and Coaches on pitching, fielding and hitting.
I have my NCCP A and B Theory, and have completed the NEW NCCP Level 1 and Level 2.
I have played all "C", "B", and "A" ball for North Van, Delta Heat, and New West Minister and have enjoyed the hard work and dedication involved.
My personal stats are: batting average .555 (team batting average .386) and my pitching stats are: 41 innings, win loss 8-0, 42 strikeouts and ERA is 1.36.
I have been playing Softball since I was 7 years old, -that is 14 years. In Squirts my team won the Gold medal and I was awarded the Provincial MVP. Over the years I have won many gold medals, including the Canada Cup “Futures” but I find that I am enjoying coaching/instructing softball skills just as much as playing now. The idea is very appealing that as a coach I can observe my team in action, assesses their strengths and weaknesses, and develops plans for addressing changes. I am a firm believer that a good coach boosts team spirit. I love it when I see a team that can come together, mentally and physically, to become winners, on and off the field. There are very few woman coaches in softball. It is said that there has never been a better time to be a female athlete in college sports, but according to a new study, fewer women, on a percentage basis, are coaching women's teams now than at any point in the past 23 years. Softball is a sport I fully intend on playing for all of my life, and I hope to continue coaching and mentoring young players to instill in them the love that I have for the game.
